The Charm City Beckons
A longstanding educational partner of Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Studio-e designed the conference identity and program booklet for the CASE DII 2013 Conference in Pittsburgh and for the upcoming CASE DII 2014 Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. As fans of both "The City of Bridges” and "The Charm City," we were pleased to have the chance to contribute.
Situated at the intersection of the Ohio, Allegheny, and Monongahela Rivers, Pittsburgh is well-known for its multitude of bridges (446 within the city limits, to be exact) and its historic steel industry. The CASE DII 2013 conference identity was inspired by a distinctive aerial view of three matching yellow bridges next to the Pirates’ baseball stadium.
Baltimore has been a center for industrial innovation since colonial times. The wood type and pointing hand (also known as a "manicule") are inspired by Baltimore's industrial tradition, which continues to include printing, manufacturing, and one of the most important seaports in the country.
