Loud, Proud, and Making a Difference
Forman School has been at the forefront of educating students with learning differences since its founding in 1930. The school invests mightily in its students and faculty, drawing on the latest research and innovations to create a best-practice model that helps students become successful and confident learners, succeed in college, and go on to lead fulfilling lives and careers.
In 2012, the school’s brand position and core marketing messages did not fully present Forman’s formidable strengths. School leadership was aware that the students and families who would benefit most from a Forman education were not finding the school. They understood that strong, clear differentiation would allow Forman to reach these students and families and to take the lead in the education market for students with learning differences. It would also serve to re-engage alumni with Forman and inspire donors to support a leading-edge school that transforms lives.
Studio-e was hired to assist Forman in addressing these challenges. We reviewed relevant market research, spent time on campus, attended classes, met students, and interviewed faculty and staff. In the end, our findings suggested that Forman do exactly what it asks its students to do—be yourself, be clear about who you are, and advocate for yourself from a position of pride. As one interview subject put it, "Forman needs to be loud and be proud.”
Studio-e developed the school's communications platform comprised of core brand messages, findings and recommendations for aligning brand attributes with the school's brand, and potential admission marketing themes. Building from the brand platform, we developed the school's graphic identity and admission marketing materials—including a new wordmark and school shield, a viewbook (for students and parents), and a profile publication (for educational consultants).
