challenge
Susquehanna University, a small liberal arts college in rural Pennsylvania, lacked name recognition. Those who had heard of the school perceived it as a “nice” place to study, rather than as a university that offers challenging academic and professional opportunities.
solution
Studio-e began by creating a distinctive Susquehanna wordmark and outlining a set of usage standards in a style guide. We then determined a core set of brand messages to be presented on all university marketing materials. The new brand and messaging were brought to life through stories that focus on academic success in a university viewbook and direct-mail piece for rising juniors.
results
Susquehanna University launched its new brand in the summer of 2008. The number of fall applications increased, and applicants’ overall SAT scores were higher than in previous years. Susquehanna’s new enrollment communications and brand were recognized with both CASE II Accolades Awards and Annual Admission Advertising Awards.
